[Forests are hardly unfamiliar to Minerva. Though this one is definitely not the last forest she saw.

These are also definitely not her clothes. She surveys her surroundings, trying to spot anything familiar. And she spots one thing.

She feels a little more herself with the familiar length of wood in her hand. She sents out a faint silvery image, but it dissipates.]

Curious.

[She's never had that method of communication fail before. Or seen her Patronus so weak.

She moves forward, not quite sure what she's looking for. But she's definitely looking for something.]

[There's a man in military uniform standing between two trees, his hands neatly folded in his pockets, as he watches her little display with a gleam in his glasses.]

Curious indeed. [He starts to step out towards her.] You appear to be lost.

[She's definitely a New Feather and much older than the average resident. This could be interesting.]

I am, at least, not certain where I am.

[She won't go so far as to say lost. She's trying to maintain her dignity here. Despite her ludicrous clothing.]

I suppose you'll need the beginner's course, then. [As he speaks, he withdraws his hands from his pockets in an innocent shrug.]

That would seem to be the case.

[She doesn't enjoy this uncertainty.]

Like all of us here, you've been drawn into another world. There's no apparent way to get home under our own power, and... well, I suppose there's only more complications that arise from there. [Like the time travel politics. He's not so sure if he should mention that to a newcomer when she may be bound to this time.]

[She's taking it all in carefully]

No apparent way to get home. Searching continues then?

How did you do that? ( The soft voice of a rather shocked young woman calls out to Minerva. Padmé is standing a short distance away, her hair in an intricate braid over one shoulder. Her eyes are wide with wonder. ) Was that magic?

[These clothes have no place to hide a wand. That's... a bit of a problem. She does at least lower her wand casually.]

I have no idea what you're talking about.

[Upholding the Statute of Secrecy is nearly as natural as breathing at her age]

( The answer is strange, but she knows better than to push. )

[There is a light chuckle that comes from a tree]

It is a bit curious, isn't it?

[She lowers the wand quickly, wishing she was wearing something with pockets.]

This whole situation is quite unusual.

[The voice shifts to come from another direction without any other sound]

Unusual is a matter of perspective.

[She turns, trying to seek out the sound of the voice]

From my perspective, this is unusual.

[The voice changes direction once again, and with her years of teaching experience the teasing tone will be easy to pick up]

That is understandable. Most individuals don't hop between different worlds and dimensions often, even those that can tend to avoid doing so too frequently.

[A light laugh]

In the same vein, there aren't many around here who use a magic wand, so you should likely be prepared to also be considered unusual.

That would require a tremendous amount of power.

[The nature of the power, well, she's not about to confirm that. Though it's difficult to really conceal the wand.]

Not many?

[That would seem to imply some. Who are being more open than they should.]

Or simply a strong knowledge of how the universe functions. There are a few here who do.

[Even a few who explained it through science rather than magic, unusual as that was]

[The implication game is fun]

Some with a strong knowledge of the universe. And some using magic wands. What sort of community is this?

And is it common to arrive here without any understanding of how?

Oh, there is some hypothetical reasoning of how it happens, what is missing is a practical and proven understanding of how.

[He leaps down unceremoniously quite close to her, staff clutched in one hand, and straightens up]

Xellos, the mysterious priest at your service.

[He adds a bow for extra flourish]

[She sticks to a much more reserved nod.]

Minerva McGonagall. I'm a teacher.

[Who introduces themself as mysterious?]

[He smiles]

You do radiate that vibe Miss Minerva McGonagall. Or do you prefer a different title?

My students call me Madam or Professor.

[Miss certainly isn't appropriate, though she doesn't much care to go into her entire romanitc history with a stranger]

[Appropriate isn't particularly his thing]

So would you prefer I call you Professor?

It's what I'm most accustomed to.

[Close enough to an actual yes]

Very well. So what are you a professor of?

[She hesitates briefly before answering]

Complex arts.

Complex arts. What does that entail precisely?

[He seems amused. ]

Taking raw material and carefully forming it into something new.

[It's not a lie. You have to give her that.]

I see. Well, that does seem a most involved field.

Have you spoken to anyone else yet?

It's an elegant field. I've studied it extensively.

There were a few young women who mentioned that we're currently uncertain how to leave. Very few details.

No solutions from science or magic at the very least.

[He shrugs]

Is magic widely used here?

[She's not going to go into too much detail. Not with the statute to consider.]

Well enough that it is featured in school here. Though many learn through less formal means.

Informal magic education. Like something out of a history text.

[Possibly Hogwarts: A History]

[With the village much smaller and sparsely filled than he's used to, Leon finds it easy to find himself walking close to the edge of the forest while walking around. He pauses when his feline ears catch sounds from the forest, and he blinks in surprise when he sees-- well, a New Feather. Though the term "New Feather" probably had no meaning in this time period.]

Do you need some help over there?

I seem to have found myself in need of directions.

[Not the easiest admission. But she has no idea where she is. She certainly doesn't remember Apparating.]

[He gives a glance back at the road before stepping off of it, walking over to the forest's edge to meet the woman. She has an almost stately air around her, despite the typical New Feather garbs.]

Sure. Sure, I can show you to the-- er, clothing store.

[There wasn't an official Welcome Center, but the plaza was still the best place to direct newcomers who would need some things. Then he realizes how restrictive he's sounding.]

--Or somewhere else, if there's somewhere specific you need to go.

[She doesn't know enough about the situation to know if she was looking for anywhere specific yet. All she knows is she's attempting to maintain her dignity in clothing made for a much younger woman.]

The clothing store is a standard starting point, then?

There really isn't a standard. [He's a bit embarrassed to be caught like this when he's used to more organization within the village, but-- he can handle this.]

Some people at the town hall can probably answer some basic questions, but you'll still end up going to the stores to get clothing and supplies.

I would prefer more... appropriate clothing.

[She already has her most vital supply, and a strong desire to pocket it.]

And then whatever information is available.

[He nods at her reply, stepping back to hopefully lead her down the dirt road. He points over in the distance, towards the small cluster of buildings.]

We'll be heading over there. That's where the stores and the town hall are found.

[And, to save himself from further awkwardness.]

Minerva McGonagall.

[She nods a greeting, since handshakes are awkward when they're walking.]

Is this are heavily settled?

What you see is what you get, honestly. [He frowns slightly as his gaze goes over the dirt roads that he was used to seeing lined with more houses.]

I'm not sure what you would consider heavily settled, though. I doubt there's even three hundred people in this village.

That would be considered a rather small village in England.

[Wizards are partial to communities of that size]

Enough to sustain itself though.
